Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and awaken later to find themselves in a dark and abandoned detention facility. Moira Burton, is attending her welcome party for Terra Save when unknown armed forces storm the office. Survivor of the Raccoon City incident depicted in previous Resident Evil games, Claire now works for the anti-bioterrorism organization Terra Save. Old fans will enjoy the nostalgic retread of Racoon City in all its newfound glory, whilst newcomers will get to experience one of the finest episodes of the series as it should be.The beginning of the Resident Evil Revelations 2 tale sees fan favorite Claire Redfield make a dramatic return. “It combines the best of the original’s narrative and puzzles with the ammo crafting of Resident Evil 3 and the action gameplay of Resident Evil 4 to create a hybrid that still manages to feel like classic Resi. Resident Evil 3 was perhaps the lesser of the two, but looking back on Resident Evil 2, we said: These remakes completely reimagined the gameplay mechanics, shifting from fixed camera positions to third person, and lavishing the games with stunning new graphics. The Resident Evil franchise has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, first reinvigorated by the new direction that Resident Evil 7 took – a game that we called “by far the best AAA survival horror game we’ve seen in quite some time” in our review – before back-to-back remakes of the PS1 classics. Both games used ray tracing within certain graphics modes on the new consoles, and we can expect to see a similar upgrade and improvement to RE2, RE3 and RE7.
All three games are based on Capcom’s in-house RE Engine, which has already seen use on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through the release of Devil May Cry V Special Edition and Resident Evil Village.
